Eye the Spy: seven handles, one voice, two years of captures

In one lineBetween April 2018 and April 2022, seven Twitter handles were tied to one QAnon influencer who signed as "E" or "Eye". Each time one was suspended, the next appeared within days or weeks. The Wayback Machine captured most of them, so their size and look can be dated.

Eyethespy comes up all through this file, most directly in the sock cluster of chapter 16. It is the account that spoke like Q while Q was silent, and the name that keeps surfacing when researchers try to trace who steered the Q audience. This chapter records only what the archive shows: when each account existed, how large it was, and how its look and claims changed. It does not say who ran them.

The seven handles, in order

The list is built from periodic Wayback captures of each profile. Creation and suspension dates come from the captures, so a suspension date is the first capture that shows it, not the day it happened.

Two more handles were requested but have no captures. @EWillHelpYou is presumed to be the successor of @ECanHelpYou and @EzAsCoWa is unknown. @ETheFriendly has three captures (Oct 25, 2020 – Jan 4, 2021), all taken after it was suspended. It is presumed to follow @ETheFriend.

Handle swaps · same stamp, new dateDocumented

Three profiles with one creation timestamp

EyeTheSpy, RealEyeTheSpy and TrueEyeTheSpy all show the same creation stamp, May 27, 2018, 7:03 AM. Two of them later display a different one. When EyeTheSpy was renamed "Rogue" with the bio "@Kill_Rogue owns this now", the creation date changed to March 18, 2018. When RealEyeTheSpy took on the display name "3.3 + 2.7" (Jan 2019), its creation date changed to 2010.

A creation date that changes after a rename is what a handle swap looks like. The compilation reads it that way: the "True" and "Real" handles were claimed after earlier owners let them go. I read it the same way, but the captures alone do not prove that the three were ever the same login.

On Nov 15, 2019 the feed carried a farewell: "Operator will Deactivate acct. in approx 1hr … I WILL return." It also told followers to "take no money, STAY humble." Five days later the account was back with the farewell tweets deleted and the followers reset to a few hundred. The account was probably deactivated and restored in between. The following day it showed an error page.

The same compilation shows other accounts moving fast. @ETheFriend went from 12.2k to 61.8k followers in about eight weeks (Jul 15 – Sep 7, 2020). @FollowThe17 went from 386 followers on its first day to 8,842 in five weeks (Jan 17 – Feb 24, 2020). Its tweet count also fell, from 94 to 77, between Feb 24 and Mar 6, and its feed carried the line "feed will be wiped again."

One post from inside that window. @ETheFriend, Jul 26, 2020, 9:42 PM, Twitter for Android: "From E.", with a Cicada-moth video (1:49 long, 14.5K views when captured). It matches the Android fingerprint described above and the Cicada imagery this desk traces back to the 2018 puzzle material.

Apr – Jun 2018 · BackChannel17 and EyeTheSpyDocumented

The Assange date: June 11, 2018

BackChannel17 first appears in April 2018 with the bio "Counter-Intel USAF Operative, Not Q … Verify All Intel", presented as a companion to Q. By May 16 the profile picture is the AFOSI seal. On May 26 it posts a farewell ("I apologize for disinformation given about MY identity") and then a string of characters that a search ties to an encryption key attributed to Julian Assange. On June 11, 2018 the banner carries "6-11-2018" in red and the bio reads "6-11-2018 Arrives Soon. Promise WILL be Kept. Hostage No More. Trust The Plan. -JA". The account shows one tweet, the same key.

Meanwhile EyeTheSpy, 25 days old, posts on May 28: "Backchannel17 isn't gone forever folks. The Line Was Comp'd; not hacked." It had 370 followers that day and 14.4k by June 1, 2018. So BackChannel17 was withdrawn while EyeTheSpy took its audience, and the two overlapped for about two weeks.

One coincidence is worth stating only as a coincidence. On Jun 11, 2020, exactly two years after that promised date, Wayback shows both @FollowThe17 and @TrueEyeTheSpy as suspended. Those are capture dates, not suspension dates, so nothing is inferred from it.

2018 – 2020 · profile elementsDocumented

What the pages looked like

  • RealEyeTheSpy, 2018: a banner of an eye with the NSA seal as its pupil, a head replaced by recording equipment ("recording, watching, listening"), and later "EYETHESPY" and "WWG1WGA" over space imagery.
  • RealEyeTheSpy, Jan 2019: a mix of overt Q content and New Age material. The bio read "Prepare For First Contact. Q Post: 2222 3ETS = Now MAJESTIC", and the pinned tweet read "Pass the ARC … BEYOND lies EDEN. GO BEYOND."
  • TrueEyeTheSpy, 2019: a burning tree, cicada or moth wings on a hooded figure with a celestial face, a car with "17" and "TRUST QQQQQ" on its bumper, and "TRUST POTUS, FOLLOW Q, OPEN THE DOOR."
  • FollowThe17, 2020: cicada wings and a flaming Q. The April 2020 tweets argued against Covid-19 disinformation. By May it had passed 1,200 tweets.
  • RealEyeTheSpy, Jun 2020: display name "27WE17:17 1:7ARE33". In July the bio pointed to @psymbiosys369 ("Welcome to the dark side, for the light side").

Three things recur: a hooded figure with a celestial face, cicada imagery, and the numbers 17 and 33. That ties these accounts to the cicada and number material in chapters 09 and 10. The same images also circulated widely among Q followers, so repeating them does not by itself show a single hand.

The identity question is not settled here

The compilation says only that these seven accounts are "attributed to" E. Researchers have named different people behind the handle, and some have said that more than one person used the name at different times. A tweet claiming the name does not establish who typed it. None of the archive material above names an operator, and this chapter names none. If an attribution is added, it will carry its own source and sit at the tier the source earns, as in chapter 18.

Check before citing

The compilation's own tables disagree in three places. It gives RealEyeTheSpy's later creation stamp as June 25, 2010 in the capture list and July 25, 2010 in the summary. It dates FollowThe17's suspension to "between 11 May and 06 June 2020" while the capture list shows the account live on May 6 and suspended on Jun 11. And it calls ETheFriend's suspension "between 09 and 24 September 2020", which matches its captures. This chapter uses the capture list in each case. The author of the compilation is not named, so every figure should be checked against the Wayback captures before it is quoted elsewhere.
